With one percent of the purchase price, honest customers have to share in the damage caused by shoplifting. These numbers are still set very low because the number of unreported cases is high. It is assumed that around 30 million shoplifters go undetected in Germany year after year. The spectrum ranges from casual theft to criminal acquisitions through to organized gang theft, which in terms of value cause the greatest damage. The central tasks of a video surveillance system therefore include theft and break-in prevention, the prevention of incidents of theft and fraud, and the preservation of evidence in the event of criminal offenses. The cameras installed in the outdoor area with day / night functionality, which are housed in an IP66-protected housing and thus effectively protected from the weather, serve to prevent break-ins. Alternatively, plug & play models in a bullet housing are also available, which also have integrated IR lighting and are therefore particularly suitable when there is only little ambient light available, but the installation of external headlights would be too time-consuming. Due to the relatively large distance that the cameras have to cover, models with a very high or megapixel resolution are used here in order to capture incidents at the other end of the building with razor sharpness. The video signals from the cameras in the outdoor area are only recorded during the night when movement is detected in order to keep the memory requirement low. In the warehouse, too, a recording is only made in the event of movement or an event, such as when the warehouse gate is opened. The indoor area is permanently recorded during opening hours in order to document criminal offenses or incidents of fraud and to be able to present appropriate evidence if necessary.
